My name Flavia means 'golden' in old Latin, or 'dourada' in Portuguese, my native language. I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since quite young I made my family's annual birthday and Christmas cards. Apart from my personal work I began selling my artwork as my parents' friends commissioned me to draw their portraits. My friends wanted illustrations of their favorite bands. I developed an appreciation for detail and soon began drawing tattoo flash designs and then tattooing.
Prior to moving to the US I attended UFRJ - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, majoring in Fine Arts, emphasis on illustration and engraving. Since moving into the US I have been developing my art with traditional media, selling my work in galleries, doing commissions, and freelancing. Upon entering the Illustration/Animation program at San Jose State I developed skills in story-telling, digital painting and 3D sculpting. It is very gratifying and rewarding to continue to expand to limits I did not imagine on my own before.
My passion is to quietly and visually tell stories that can be universally grasped by the common mind.
